Fit, Fun & Fully Alive!

Volunteer Training

CPR/AED/First Aid Training:

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training are provided for all volunteers on an annual basis.

The Canadian Centre for Activity & Aging (CCAA) requires bi-annual CPR renewal at the Heart Saver level for instructors wishing to maintain their certification. Our volunteers are in support of annual training to keep these important skills sharp, in particular for the class locations that are Heart Wise

Annual community training sessions are offered periodically by the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service. Click on the link for contact information and call for information on upcoming CPR/AED training events.

Refresher Training:

The WBCHC provides a choice of 3 refresher training session for volunteer Senior Fitness Instructors annually. The CCAA requires Senior Fitness Instructors to complete one refresher training per year. The refresher training is a half-day workshop delivered by CCAA Trainers to provide:

Updates: New and relevant research findings, best practices and changes in the SFIC program;
Review: brief highlight of key information from the SFIC course, and
Q & A: an opportunity for SFI's to come together and have questions answered and network with other instructors, presenters and Trainers.

Senior Fitness Instructor Course (SFIC):

The Whitewater Bromley Community Health Centre (WBCHC), A part of Lanark Health & Community Services has facilitated the SFIC locally about every other year, depending on resources. Two of the WBCHC staff are Trainers to deliver the SFIC and often we work with other Trainers in the area as well as many guest presenters to maximize the learning experience for course participants.

Please visit the Canadian Centre for Activity & Aging (CCAA) website to learn more about the SFIC and many other training courses and opportunities.

Upcoming SFIC Training:
